Iranian Girl Bagheri Claims Gold at WKF U-21 Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Avishan Bagheri from Iran won a gold medal at the day four of World Karate Federation (WKF) Cadet, Junior and Under-21 Championships on Saturday.

Bagheri defeated Spaniard Marina Caceres 5-1 in the women’s under-21 kumite under-55kg final.

Another Iranian girl Sara Bahmanyar was defeated against Nadia Gomez from Spain 7-3 in the women’s under-21 kumite under-50kg category.

On Friday, Iran’s Barbod Sedaghat had won a gold medal in junior male kumite -76kg, defeating Morocco’s Nabil Ech-Chaabi.

Over 1,700 athletes from 109 countries are competing in the event, underway in Tenerife, Spain.

It surpassed the 1,354 karate fighters from 86 countries, who attended the 2015 Championships in Indonesia.
