Leader Appoints New Army Commanders
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei appointed a new commander as chief of the Iranian Navy, and replaced the lieutenant commander of the Army.
In separate decrees on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei, Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, put Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi in charge of the Navy, appointed his predecessor to a new post in the Army, and replaced the Army lieutenant commander.
The former long-serving Navy commander, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, will be serving as the deputy chief of the Army for coordination from now on.
And according to the third decree, Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras succeeded Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan as the lieutenant commander of the Army.
Imam Khamenei has repeatedly stressed the need for strengthening the country’s military power and called on the Armed Forces to maintain a high level of preparedness.
Iran’s Army comprises four major forces, namely the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force and Air Defense.
