Iranian, Russian Diplomats Meet in Moscow
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov held talks on Tuesday in Moscow.
During the meeting, the head of Iran’s delegation to Astana Talks on Syria and the Russian official, who is President Vladimir Putins special representative for the Middle East, discussed the latest developments in the region and the cooperation between the two countries to resolve the Syrian crisis.
Jaberi Ansari has been Iran’s top negotiator in the peace talks in the Kazakh capital of Astana aimed at ending the Syria crisis.
The 7th round of Syria peace talks brokered by Iran, Russia, and Turkey was held in Astana on October 30 and 31.
The fourth edition of the talks in May produced a memorandum of understanding on de-escalation zones in Syria, sharply reducing fighting in the country.
Diplomatic efforts to end fighting in Syria gained momentum in 2017 with the announcement of a ceasefire in the Arab country in early January.
