Fatemiyoun Vows Support for Resistance Axis as Daesh Falls
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Fatemiyoun corps, an all-Afghan unit involved in the fight against Takfiri terrorist groups, reaffirmed commitment to standing with the axis of anti-Israeli resistance now that the self-proclaimed caliphate of the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group has been crushed in Syria and Iraq.
In a statement on Tuesday, commanders and fighters of the Fatemiyoun corps congratulated Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani on the fall of Daesh.
Hailing the victory over Takfiri groups in Syria and the restoration of security to the Arab country, the Afghan fighters vowed to keep backing the axis of resistance until the elimination of international Zionism.
Although Daesh became extinct in Iraq and Syria, the notorious group’s masters in Tel Aviv and Washington will not stand idle and push for division among Sunni and Shiite Muslims in the Islamic world, the statement warned.
Earlier on Tuesday, Major General Soleimani said the self-proclaimed caliphate of Daesh terrorist group has formally collapsed in Islamic territories after recapture of its last stronghold in Syria’s Al-Bukamal.
In his message to Ayatollah Khamenei, General Soleimani has highlighted the influential role of the Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian, Lebanese, Afghan, and Pakistani forces in defending the life and dignity of Muslims and their sanctities.
On November 19, Daesh terrorists were flushed out of their last stronghold in Syria’s Al-Bukamal. The city’s liberation marked an end to the group’s self-proclaimed caliphate it had declared in 2014.
Daesh militants made swift advances in northern and western Iraq over the summer of 2014, after capturing large areas of Syria.
But the timely support by Iran helped Syria and Iraq fight off Daesh. In addition, formation of military units by volunteers in Iraq, known as Hashd al-Shaabi or Popular Mobilization Units, blunted the edge of Daesh offensive and later made the terror group withdraw from the territories it had occupied.
