TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The forces of the Iranian Navy managed to save an Indian sailor from drowning near the Farsi Island in the Persian Gulf, a local commander of the Navy announced.

A cargo barge was separated from its tow vessel and faced a crisis on Saturday evening due to bad weather conditions while sailing in the waters near the Farsi Island, Rear Admiral Babak Amini, the commander of the Bushehr Naval Base, said.

“Immediately after receiving an SOS signal, the Iranian Navy deployed a helicopter from the Bushehr Naval Base to the site of the incident and rescued the Indian sailor, who had been injured by sea turmoil,” he said.

The commander added that the Indian sailor was taken to a hospital in Bushehr later.
