Iran’s Zarif Due in Germany for Munich Security Conference
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will start a visit to Germany on Saturday to participate in the 54th edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.
Zarif is slated to leave Tehran for Munich tonight and deliver a speech at the MSC on Sunday about the most important regional and international security issues, Qassemi said Saturday.
The Iranian top diplomat also plans to hold talks with a number of high-ranking officials of other countries participating in the MSC, the spokesman noted.
From Friday until Sunday, more than 30 heads of state and government and over 100 cabinet ministers from across the globe come together at the MSC for discussions on major international security challenges, according to the official website of the event.
Since its foundation five decades ago, the MSC has become a leading international platform for dialogue on foreign and security policy.
In addition to its annual flagship conference, the MSC regularly convenes high-profile events on particular topics and regions and publishes the Munich Security Report.
