Israel behind Missile Attack on T-4 Airbase: Russia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russia’s Defense Ministry said two Israeli F-15 jets carried out a missile strike against a Syrian military airport in Central Syria from Lebanese airspace.

"On April 9, from 03:25 to 03:53 Moscow time, two Israeli Air Force F-15 jets, carried out an airstrike by two guided missiles on the T-4 airfield from the Lebanese territory and without entering Syria's airspace,” the defense ministry said in a statement on Monday, Sputnik news reported.

"Three missiles reached the western part of the airfield. There are no Russian (military) advisers among those injured,” the statement added.

Syrian state TV reported loud explosions near the T-4 airfield in the desert east of Homs in the early hours of Monday. State TV initially reported that the attack was likely American.

Syrian state media later reported that the deadly attack was carried out by Israeli warplanes.

"The Israeli attack on the T-4 airport was carried out with F-15 aircraft that fired several missiles from above Lebanese territory," a Syrian military source was quoted by SANA.

Video footage on social media in Lebanon showed aircraft or missiles flying low over the country, apparently heading east towards Syria. At least 14 people were killed, the so-called London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said.
