Iran’s Foreign Minister Zarif Due in US Thursday
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will travel to New York on Thursday to attend a United Nations General Assembly meeting on peace, a spokesperson said.
Zarif is going to take part in the UNGA High-Level Meeting on Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace at the UN headquarters in New York, ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Wednesday.
The top Iranian diplomat is scheduled to deliver an address to the UNGA gathering, hold meetings with foreign officials, and give a speech at the US Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the spokesman added.
The upcoming UNGA meeting will reportedly open with speeches from figures with experience on peacebuilding process. It then will convene a high-level plenary meeting of the UNGA, during which member states will deliver statements. The event also will include four interactive dialogues, held in parallel to the high-level plenary meeting.
