Esteghlal Wins Iran’s Hazfi Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal of Tehran football team edged past Khooneh be Khooned on Thursday to win Iran’s Hazfi Cup for the seventh time.
Mame Baba Thiam scored the only goal of the match in the 35th minute in Khorramshahr’s Naftogaz Arvandan Stadium after receiving a decent pass from Khosro Heydari.
Esteghlal is the most-decorated team in Hazfi Cup with seven titles.
Winfried Schaefer extended his contract with Esteghlal for two years ahead of the final match.
Hazfi Cup is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation.
The competition was founded in 1975.
