IBSA Blind Football World Championships: Iran Beaten by Argentina
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against Argentina on the first day of the 2018 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championships on Saturday.
Americas champion Argentina beat Rio 2016 silver medalists Iran 1-0 thanks to a sole goal from Nicolas Veliz from a penalty kick.
Iran will play France on Sunday in Group B.
The 2018 IBSA Blind Football World Championships features 16 of the world’s best teams. As well as the title on offer, the competition is also an important step on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Group stages run until June 12. The quarterfinals and playoffs begin on June 13, with the final taking place on June 17.
The 2018 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championships is underway in Madrid, Spain, on June 7-17.
