Army Chief: Iran Standing Firm against Threats
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Having gained considerable experience in withstanding an imposed war in the 1980s and fighting proxy wars, the Iranian Armed Forces are prepared to counter any sort of threat, Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said.
Addressing a military academic event in Tehran on Tuesday, the Army chief highlighted the Iranian Armed Forces’ preparedness to combat any threat, warning the enemies of Iran’s decisive response.
“The enemy is unaware of our moral and combat capabilities and preparedness and of the rapport and unity among the Armed Forces and people, and if it (enemy) knew about our defense power, it would never speak to Iran with the language of threat,” he added.
The general further recommended that American think tank experts review the “unforgettable lessons” from the successive blows they have received from the Islamic Republic instead of hatching plots against Iran.
Last week, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri cautioned the US against any hostile action against Iran, saying the US president’s move to carry out his threats would draw Iran’s harsh and unimaginable response and jeopardize American interests.
The united response from Iranian military officials came after President Hassan Rouhani warned his US counterpart not to play with the lion’s tail after Donald Trump’s push to halt Iran’s export of oil, saying a war with Iran would be “the mother of wars” and that control over the Strait of Hormuz is only one of Iran’s advantages.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also praised Rouhani’s firm response to the US threat to halt Iran’s oil exports, saying his significant stances that signify the Establishment’s policy must be seriously pursued by the Foreign Ministry.
