Asian Games: Iran Basketball Starts with Win
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian national basketball team started the 2018 Asian Games with a win on Saturday and advanced to the quarter-final.
Team Melli defeated Syria 68-55 in Group B at the GBK Basketball Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates, who had been drawn in Group B, withdrew from the basketball tournament ahead of the tournament.
The basketball competition at the Asian Games takes place from Aug. 19 to Sept. 1 in Jakarta.
The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, is a pan-Asian multi-sport event scheduled to be held from 18 August to 2 September in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
The athletes compete in 465 events across 40 sports and 67 disciplines.
