Ayatollah Khamenei: US Power on the Wane in All Arenas
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the diminishing influence of the US government in all areas of power, saying Washington has even discredited “liberal democracy” which is known as the basis of Western civilization.
In an address to a gathering of Iranian students in Tehran on Saturday, Ayatollah Khamenei said a general review of international developments reveals that the US government’s power and influence in the entire world are at a low ebb and “the contemporary US is several times weaker than the US four decades ago.”
“Not only is the US spiritual might and soft power diminishing now, but the current peculiar US president’s measures have also discredited ‘liberal democracy’ that forms the basis of Western civilization,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
There is a consensus among major international experts that the US power is dwindling in all areas, the Leader underscored, adding that, conversely, the Iranian nation is moving forward and faces a bright future.
Many international politicians and experts believe that the US soft power is dying down, because the US ability to force its views upon other countries is now in the weakest status, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
During the current US president’s term, world nations and even the governments in Europe, China, Russia, India, Africa, and Latin America have been overtly opposing the US government’s decisions, the Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei then branded the US government as the loser of confrontation with the Islamic Republic over the past 40 years, saying the fact in confrontation between the US and Iran is that “the victorious side in this challenge has been the Islamic Republic of Iran and the loser has been the US.”
Despite all its attempts to re-conquer Iran over the past four decades, the US has not achieved any of its objectives, the Leader stressed, adding, “Today, the only country in whose decisions the US does not have any role is the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this means the US defeat.”
Enumerating the cases of US hostile actions against the Iranian nation, Ayatollah Khamenei said Washington’s economic war against Tehran has always been in place over the past four decades and the notion of sanctions is not anything new.
The purpose of the US economic war and sanctions against Iran over the past 40 years has been to cripple and stall the Islamic Republic, the Leader said, adding that what has happened in reality has been against the US will, as Iran has been moving towards self-sufficiency and domestic production has accelerated in the country.
Ayatollah Khamenei finally stressed that the US “hard power” in the military and economic spheres are also at a low ebb, saying the US government’s $800 billion budget deficit is a clear sign of its economic decline.
