Esteghlal Striker Gero Hits Out at Fans
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal of Iran’s Nigerian striker Alhji Gero has hit back at criticism he’s received from the fans during his time at the club.
The 24-year-old attacker moved to the Persian Gulf Professional League side Esteghlal from Ostersunds on a three-year contract in August.
Gero replaced Mame Baba Thiam who scored 12 goals in 13 matches for Esteghlal.
Gero has netted just one goal in nine matches and Esteghlal fans have criticized him in social media.
He has been absent in Esteghlal’s training over the past days and the report suggests that he will leave the team in the January transfer window.
“Oh my God! how can people make such a big lie about things that they have no idea. I’m sick, that’s why I couldn’t train with the team,” Gero said.
