Islamic Jihad: March of Return Defying Normalization Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement said one of the main purposes of the weekly protests in Palestine, known as the Great March of Return, is to voice opposition to normalization talks with the Israeli regime.
Palestinian demonstrators in the Friday rallies gave the Arab elites and political currents the message that it is necessary to defy the normalization talks with the Zionist regime of Israel and isolate the individuals favoring such negotiations, Daoud Shihab said after the January 4 protests.
He said the high turnout of Palestinians in the 41st consecutive week of anti-Israeli marches was a renewal of opposition to any ties with Israel and an affirmation that attepmts at normalization are a perverted behavior that run counter to the Palestinian community’s culture, according to Palestine Al Yawm.
Shihab underlined that Palestinians will continue to hold rallies along the Gaza border every Friday, saying such marches embolden the culture of opposing the enemy and remaining committed to the Palestinian tenets.
The March of Return demonstrations in the Gaza Strip entered the 41st week on Friday, January 4.
At least 240 Palestinians have been killed since the demonstrations began in March.
