Iran to Showcase Defense Achievements Soon, Commander Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior spokesman for the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said the country’s latest military achievements, as well as others gained after Islamic Revolution’s victory in 1979, will be showcased in four exhibitions in the near future.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference on Saturday, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi pointed to the General Staff’s plans to mark the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in February and said the revolution’s achievements will be put on display in 4 exhibitions.

The theme of the first expo, which will be held in Tehran by the Defense Ministry starting from Thursday, would be the country’s military power, he said.

Three other exhibitions will be staged by the country’s Armed Forces with the aim of comparing the country’s current defense capabilities to those before the revolution, the general noted.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.

Back in February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.

“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said at the time.
