Iran Ready to Mass Produce, Export Individual Weapons: Top General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri highlighted the country’s self-sufficiency in the military sphere and said the Islamic Republic is prepared to mass produce and export individual weapons.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of an exhibition of defense achievements of the country’s Armed Forces in Tehran on Wednesday, Major General Baqeri said more than 500 products in 11 military fields have been showcased at the expo.

He added that various types of domestically made missiles with various ranges are also on display.

“Before the (1979 Islamic) Revolution, we had only the ability to assemble individual weapons,” he said, adding that today's situation is not comparable to the pre-revolution era.

“Today, there is a readiness for mass production and exports of all these products,” the top general noted.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.

Back in February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.

“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on February 18.
