Iran Determined to Boost Cooperation with Iraq in All Areas: Zarif
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif highlighted the importance of Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s visit to the Islamic Republic and said Tehran is “determined to realize the full potential” of political, economic and security cooperation with Baghdad.
“Welcoming Iraq PM @AdilAbdAlMahd, senior ministerial & private sector delegation to Iran,” Zarif said on his official Twitter account on Saturday night.
“Implementing accords reached during Pres. Rouhani's historic visit to Iraq. Determined to realize full potential of political, economic & security cooperation with our friend & neighbor,” he added in his tweet.
Heading a high-ranking political, military and economic delegation, Abdul-Mahdi arrived in Tehran on Saturday for his first official visit to the Islamic Republic since he took office.
It comes less than a month after Rouhani paid a visit to Iraq with a big political and business delegation and signed several agreements with the neighboring nation.
It was also Rouhani’s first official visit to Iraq during his tenure.
