Iran Professional League: Sepahan Sinks Saipa
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sepahan of Esfahan football team humiliated Saipa 5-2 in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Thursday.
In the match held in Tehran’s Shahr-e Qods Stadium, Sajjad Shahbazzadeh opened the scoring for the visiting team in the 14th minute, but Reza Asadi equalized the match in the 23rd minute.
Sepahan midfielder Vladimir Koman made it 2-1 before the interval. Kiros Stanlley scored Sepahan’s third and fourth goals in the 53rd and 56th minutes respectively.
Sepahan defender Mohammad Iranpourian was sent off in the 66th minute after receiving his second yellow card.
Arman Ramezani pulled a goal back for Saipa in the 66th minute but Mehrdad Mohammadi scored Sepahan’s fifth goal from the penalty spot in the 79th minute.
Sepahan moved to third place with 50 points, five points adrift of leader Persepolis.
Furthermore, Rock-bottom Esteghlal Khuzestan and Naft Masjed Soleyman played out a goalless draw.
