Iran, Oman Wrap Up Joint Naval Drill

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Military forces from Iran and Oman wrapped up a joint naval exercise off the coast of Muscat.

The joint rescue and relief operation was a result of the agreements reached by a joint commission of Iran-Oman military friendship.

Held in the waters off the coast of Oman’s capital Muscat, the drill involved troops from the Iranian Navy, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy, the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force of Oman, and the Royal Oman Police.

Iran had dispatched a hospital ship, a fire fighting vessel, ‘Sabalan’ missile-launching corvette, ‘Bandar Abbas’ logistical warship, a helicopter, and diving teams to the drill zone.

Iran and Oman have held several naval exercises in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman in recent years.

On April 19, high-ranking military officials from Iran and Oman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation between the two neighboring countries in various military spheres.
