Iran’s Minister of Education Steps Down

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Minister of Education Seyed Mohammad Bathaei has officially handed in his resignation, an informed source said.

The informed source at President Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet told Tasnim on Thursday that Bathaei has resigned.

“The resignation has been formally tendered to President Hassan Rouhani at the recent session of the cabinet,” the source added.

“The resignation has personal reasons and it is not clear whether the president will accept it or not.”

The Iranian Parliament gave a vote of confidence to Bathaei as the minister of education in August 2017.

Bathaei was in the initial list of the nominees for cabinet posts that Rouhani had proposed to the Parliament days after being sworn in as the president for a second term.
