Iranian Official Hails Launch of Tehran-Muscat Flights
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chairman of Iran-Oman Joint Chamber of Commerce Mohsen Zarrabi hailed the inauguration of a direct flight between Tehran and Muscat and said it will pave the grounds for promotion of economic ties between the two countries.
Zarrabi told Tasnim that the inaugural flight between Tehran and Muscat was operated on Sunday evening by the Omani airline Salamair.
“This flight route is cost effective for tourists and economic activists in both countries,” he said, adding that trips between Tehran and Muscat would be cheaper than the past.
He further said the Omani airline would operate three flights a week, adding that the launch of this flight can enhance the economic interactions between Iran and Oman.
The direct flight between Muscat and Tehran was launched during a ceremony in the Omani capital on Sunday attended by senior officials of the two countries, including Iranian Ambassador to Muscat Mohammad Reza Nouri Shahroudi.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nouri Shahroudi said the launch of the direct flight in the current situation is a sign of the depth of friendship between Iran and Oman.
Speaking to Times of Oman ahead of the inaugural flight, Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of Salamair said that he is extremely happy to be starting another destination.
“We are extremely happy and excited about adding another destination to our network,” he said, adding, “Today, we are flying to Tehran, the capital of Iran, which is a very popular destination, and this is our second destination in Iran as we have been flying to Shiraz and it has been extremely successful.”
