Iran to Put Downed US Drones on Display: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A high-ranking Iranian commander said the country plans to showcase the remnants of US drones downed by the Islamic Republic over the past years.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday, Brigadier General Bahman Kargar explained about ceremonies due to be held during the Sacred Defense Week, which marks the onset of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.
He said the events to commemorate the Sacred Defense Week will kick off on Sunday, September 22, when the Armed forces would stage military parades across the country.
The commander further said an exhibition will also be held during the week to showcase the remnants of the US drones shot down by the air defense forces of the Islamic Republic.
Various units representing the Iranian Navy, Air Force, Army Ground Force, Airborne division, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Police are slated to participate in the nationwide parades on Sunday.
The most recent achievements of the Iranian armed forces in the missile industry, equipment for the ground, naval and air defense forces, as well as communication gear, will be put on display in the military events.
In Iran, the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war is known as the Sacred Defense, and the Sacred Defense Week is held on the anniversary of the beginning of the war.
