Defense Minister Highlights Role of Nanotechnology in Boosting Iran’s Combat Power

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami highlighted the country’s self-sufficiency in producing state-of-the-art military equipment and said nanotechnology has played a significant role in boosting the Islamic Republic’s combat power.

In a speech addressing the 12th Nanotechnology Festival in Tehran on Saturday, Brigadier General Hatami stressed Iran’s achievements in the area of nanotechnology.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, with the endeavors of its experts and scientists in the field of Nano, has achieved a high position in the world,” he said.

The general further described nanotechnology as an empowering technology and said it can create a fundamental change in Iran’s defense industries.

“Nanotechnology has a major impact on further development of defense systems,” the Defense Minister went on to say.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.

Back in February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.

“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said at the time.
