Armed Gang Involved in Contraband Smuggling Smashed in NW Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s intelligence forces have managed to identify and arrest members of an armed gang involved in the smuggling of contraband goods in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the organized network of smugglers was identified and disbanded following round-the-clock activities of the Iranian intelligence forces in West Azarbaijan.

During the operation, five key smugglers, including the ringleader, were arrested in coordination with the judiciary.

According to the report, the armed gang had been involved in smuggling and trading illegally in the cities of Bukan, Mahabad, Oroumiyeh and Tehran.

Significant amounts of fake currencies, weapons and counterfeit car number plates were also seized from the smugglers.
