Syria Air Defense Units Thwart Israeli Attack near Damascus
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian air defense units repelled an attack by Israeli warplanes targeting the capital city of Damascus, managing to repel “most of the enemy missiles”.
"Most of the enemy missiles were shot down before reaching their targets," SANA quoted a military source as saying.
The report added that the Syrian military was still verifying possible outcomes of the Israeli attacks. Israeli warplanes launched the attack from above the occupied Golan Heights shortly before midnight on Sunday.
Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria, including in the Golan Heights, most of them against what the Tel Aviv regime claims to be the positions of pro-Syrian forces.
