Coronavirus Cases Exceed 60,000 in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients in Iran surpassed 60,000 on Monday, of whom more than 24,000 have recovered, the Health Ministry’s spokesman announced.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Monday, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has reached 60,500 following the detection of 2,274 new cases since yesterday.

He also noted that 24,236 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease so far and have been discharged from the hospital.

According to Jahanpoor, the coronavirus death toll in Iran now stands at 3,739 after 136 patients lost their lives during the past 24 hours.

Among the coronavirus patients undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 4,083 ones have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, he noted.

More than 1,284,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 70,000.
