Member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Passes Away
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ayatollah Ebrahim Amini, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, passed away at the age of 95 in the city of Qom.
Born in June 1925, the top cleric died in Qom on Friday after being hospitalized for a couple of days.
Ayatollah Amini represented people of Tehran in the Assembly of Experts. He was also a former vice chairman of the assembly.
The cleric will be laid to rest at the holy shrine of Fatima Masumeh (SA) in Qom on Saturday, but his funeral would not be open to the general public due to the health restrictions in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Assembly of Experts is a high-ranking body of experts which elects and oversees the activities of the leader of the Islamic Revolution.
