Yemeni Airspace Unsafe for Enemies: Activist
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Yemeni human rights activist said his country has made such great progress in the air defense industry that its airspace is totally unsafe for hostile aircraft.
In an interview with Tasnim, Seyyed Sadiq al-Sharafi said the Yemeni forces have developed drones that carry smart weapons and can hit targets with pinpoint accuracy.
He added that the Houthi Ansarullah movement and the forces from Yemen’s popular committees have obtained such advanced air defense missile systems that have changed the course of the war imposed by the Saudi-led military coalition.
“Yemen’s airspace is not safe for the enemy’s fighter jets and drones, as a large number of those aircraft have been shot down so far.”
The media activist highlighted the Yemeni forces’ success in hitting targets inside Saudi Arabia, saying such blows reveal the weakness of the US’ proxy regimes that are unable to defend themselves.
“Those attacks also demonstrate to what extent the Yemeni forces have made progress and gained new technologies,” Sharafi added.
He also noted that Saudi Arabia is trying to conceal its weakness and behaves rudely, while it is imploring Yemenis in the confidential negotiations to accept a mediator.
“Saudis want to exit from the current situation, but they are proposing conditions that are unacceptable considering the status quo. Saudis seek to end the war in certain regions and battlefields by making concessions, but the only way to end the war is a complete end to the blockade on Yemen and full withdrawal of the Saudi and Emirati military forces from Yemen,” he underlined.
The Saudi-led coalition invaded Yemen in 2015. Since then, over 100,000 people have been killed, according to the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED).
