Iran Detects 1,680 New Coronavirus Cases in 24 Hours
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people who have been infected with the novel coronavirus in Iran has surpassed 100,000 after detection of 1,680 new cases over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry’s spokesman said Wednesday.
Speaking at a daily press conference, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 101,650 following the detection of 1,680 new cases since Tuesday noon.
He also noted that coronavirus has taken the lives of 78 patients during the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 6,418.
Jahanpoor added that 81,587 patients have recovered from coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from the hospital.
Among those undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 2,735 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, he said.
The spokesperson also noted that more than 531,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world surpassed 3,740,000 on Wednesday and the death toll exceeded 258,000.
