Over 86,000 Patients Recover from COVID-19 in Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients recovering and being released from the hospital in Iran has exceeded 86,100 as of Sunday, the Health Ministry spokesman announced.

In remarks at a daily press conference on Sunday, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 107,603 following the detection of 1,383 new cases since yesterday.

He also noted that 86,143 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease so far and have been discharged from the hospital.

According to Jahanpoor, the coronavirus death toll in Iran now stands at 6,640 after 51 patients lost their lives during the past 24 hours.

Among the coronavirus patients undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 2,675 ones have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, he added, noting that more than 586,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in the country so far.

More than 4,102,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 280,000.
