S. Korea Offers $1m Worth of Virus Testing Equipment to Iran: Report
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – South Korea said it has provided about $1 million worth of coronavirus test devices and other help to Iran as part of efforts to support its fight against the pandemic.
The assistance was granted to an Iranian state-run medical research institute as a token of humanitarian support and friendship between the two countries, according to the South Korean Embassy in Tehran, Korean Herald reported on Sunday.
This was in addition to Seoul's provision of about $200,000 worth of assistance to Iran last month, including coronavirus test devices and spray-type disinfectants, the report added.
The number of people who have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection in Iran has surpassed 94,400, while the death toll is near 7,000, the Health Ministry’s spokesman said on Sunday.
Kianoosh Jahanpoor said COVID-19 has taken the lives of 51 patients over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 6,988.
The spokesman added that the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 120,198 following the detection of 1,806 new cases.
