Number of Coronavirus Recoveries in Iran Tops 100,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of recoveries in Iran from the novel coronavirus outbreak has exceeded 100,000, the Health Ministry’s spokesman said.

Kianoosh Jahanpoor told reporters at a daily press conference on Thursday that 100,564 coronavirus patients in Iran have recovered from the disease and left the hospital.

He said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in the country has risen to 129,341 following the detection of 2,392 new cases since Wednesday noon.

The spokesman put the death toll from the coronavirus in Iran at 7,249, saying the disease has taken the lives of 66 patients over the past 24 hours.

According to Jahanpoor, more than 746,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of those infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 5.1 million and more than 330,000 people have died from the disease so far.
