Coronavirus Cases Exceed 195,000 in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Iran has surpassed 195,000, of whom nearly 155,000 have recovered from the disease, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Sima Sadat Lari said the number of people tested positive for the coronavirus across the country has risen to 195,051 following the detection of 2,612 new cases over the past 24 hours.
She said the coronavirus has taken the lives of 120 patients during the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 9,185.
Of the new cases detected since yesterday, 1,071 patients have been admitted to the hospital, the spokeswoman said.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 2,789 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
At least 154,812 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, she said.
The spokeswoman also said nearly 1,320,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has exceeded 8,263,000, and the death toll has surpassed 446,000.
