Health Workers Demand Better Working Conditions in Paris Protest (+Video)
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Health care workers held a demonstration in Paris on Tuesday as they demanded better working conditions in the hospitals, higher salaries, and more beds for patients.
The protesters lit up red flares and held flags of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) and signs such as, "The people support the caretakers" and "The city of Paris does not retreat."
"For the moment, the acts are still dragging on in terms of salary, recognition of diplomas, employment, reopening of beds," said one of the protesters.
The police officers watched the peaceful protest with no clashes reported.
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe promised "significant" pay increases at the start of talks with the health workers last month, with additional 6.3 billion euros ($7bn) to be allocated.
French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to announce the measures next week following the talks.
