Iran Reports 2,751 New Coronavirus Cases


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry reported 2,751 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to more than 314,000.

Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said at a press conference on Tuesday that the number of people tested positive for the coronavirus across Iran has risen to 314,786 following the detection of 2,751 new cases since Monday noon.

COVID-19 has taken the lives of 212 patients during the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll in the country to 17,617, she said.

So far, 272,535 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease or have been discharged from the hospital, she noted.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,132 patients have critical health conditions, Lari said.

The spokeswoman added that more than 2,560,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran until now.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 18.4 million and the death toll has exceeded 698,000.
