Melbourne Police Leaves Mentally Ill Man in Coma After Hitting Him in Head (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Disturbing footage shows a 32-year-old man being hit by a police vehicle before an officer appears to stomp on his head - he now lies in an induced coma in a Melbourne hospital.

A father-of-three is in a coma after he was hit by a police car and kicked in the head by an officer as he was arrested in Melbourne, Australia.

A shocking video shows the 32-year-old man with mental health issues walking in the middle of a road, before he is approached by a marked police car, the Mirror reported.

The car can be seen driving into the man, who is thrown up on to the bonnet for a few seconds, before hitting the floor.

Six police officers can then be seen pinning the man, who has bipolar, to the ground at around 4.10pm.

One of the policemen then kicked the man in the face.

The dad was said to have been waiting for a mental health bed at the Northern Hospital but decided to leave after waiting more than a day in emergency.

Hospital staff called police to bring him back, but the violent arrest unfolded and he was left needing to be placed in an induced coma.

One eyewitness called George told Nine News the man was tackled to the ground by police and kicked "repeatedly".

"They've kicked him in the head repeatedly whilst they also had five police officers who already tackled him to the ground," he said.

Other eyewitnesses filmed the incident in a nearby car, while watching the arrest unfold in horror as sirens blared.
