Daily Coronavirus Cases in Iran Exceed 5,600
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of Iranian people who have tested positive for the coronavirus infection during the past 24 hours has hit a new record with over 5,600 patients detected, the Health Ministry said Wednesday.
The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has risen to 545,286 following the detection of 5,616 new cases since yesterday, health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said at a daily press conference.
Of the new cases detected since Tuesday, 2,340 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,861 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions, she noted.
The spokeswoman further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 31,346, saying the disease has taken the lives of 312 patients over the past 24 hours.
At least 438,709 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.
Lari also noted that around 4,600,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 41 million and the death toll has exceeded 1,130,000.
