Protesters Rally in DC to Defend Affordable Care Act (+Video)
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A rally was held in front of the US Supreme Court in Washington, DC, on Tuesday to defend the Affordable Care Act (ACA), known as 'Obamacare.'
Holding banners and signs, demonstrators gathered in front of the Court amid the hearing on the constitutionality of the ACA.
Two key US Supreme Court justices indicated they are inclined to uphold the bulk of the Affordable Care Act as the court weighed the fate of a landmark law that provides health-insurance to 20 million people.
President Donald Trump’s administration is joining Republican-led states in challenging the law, known as Obamacare, which the GOP has been trying to wipe out since it was enacted.
Passed in 2010, under former US president Barack Obama's administration, the ACA gave access to healthcare coverage to nearly 20 million Americans.
