Zarif Urges Sweden to Resist US Bullying

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif warned Sweden not to sacrifice its independence for Washington’s cruel policies and bullying.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Zarif and his Swedish counterpart Ann Christin Linde discussed a range of issues, such as the latest regional and international developments, JCPOA-related topics, and bilateral and consular relations between Tehran and Stockholm.

Deploring the US' unlawful and unfair sanctions against Iran, Zarif criticized European countries for the failure to fulfill their commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal.

The top Iranian diplomat also advised Sweden not to sacrifice its independence and sovereignty for the bullying and cruel policies of the US.

In a message to the king of Sweden in June, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed Tehran’s willingness to enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Stockholm.

Highlighting  the “delicate and critical conditions” caused by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Rouhani expressed hope that cooperation and rapport among the Iranian and Swedish officials would contribute to the enhancement of world peace and stability and closer relations between Tehran and Stockholm at the bilateral and international levels.
