Coronavirus in Iran: Over 2,200 New Cases Admitted to Hospital
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 2,200 new coronavirus cases detected in Iran over the past 24 hours have been admitted to the hospital, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.
Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference on Tuesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has risen to 975,900 following the detection of 13,881 new cases since yesterday.
Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 2,237 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.
At least 677,963 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.
She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 48,628, saying the disease has taken the lives of 382 patients over the past 24 hours.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,840 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 6,168,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 63 million and the death toll has exceeded 1,470,000.
