Coronavirus in Iran: Around 650 New Cases Admitted to Hospital

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours has dropped to 653, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference on Wednesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,305,300 following the detection of 6,317 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, only 653 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 1,094,388 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 56,457, saying the disease has taken the lives of 97 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,469 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 8,316,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 92 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.97 million.
