US Forces behind Re-Emergence of Daesh near Baghdad: Iraqi Security Expert

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iraqi security expert said Sunday that the American forces are behind the re-emergence of Deash (ISIS or ISIL) terrorists in an areas located about 60 kilometers southwest of Baghdad.

Sabah al-Akili told the Iraqi Al-Maalomah news website that the US forces are behind Daesh's presence and activities in the areas of Jurfa al-Nasr in the Baghdad belt in northern Babil province.

He added that from time to time, US forces station a number of terrorist groups behind Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) or Hashd al-Sha’abi bases in Jurfa al-Nasr via heliborne operations to infiltrate and target the bases or sabotage power lines.

Political and foreign parties, with the support of the United States, are working hard to oust Hashd al-Sha’abi forces from the Jurf al-Nasr area, which connects the provinces of Babil, Al-Anbar, Baghdad and Karbala, he said in the interview.

He noted that the military and strategic goal of the US forces is to create a gap in Jurf al-Nasr, to threaten the above-mentioned provinces, and to justify remaining of the US forces on Iraqi soil, adding that it also gives the government the necessary justification to demand that US troops remain in Iraq.

In a statement issued on Saturday night, Hashd al-Sha’abi said that the command of Al-Jazeera Operations Headquarters repelled the attack of Daesh terrorist hideous in the Jurf al-Nasr area.

The region recently witnessed a terrorist attack on a number of high-voltage power towers in Iraq.
