Coronavirus in Iran: 100 New Deaths Reported

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran stood at 100 on Monday, according to the Health Ministry’s spokesperson.

Providing the latest statistics for the coronavirus infection, Sima Lari said on Monday that the pandemic has claimed 100 lives over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Iran to 61,330.

She also noted that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has surpassed 1,754,900 after the detection of 7,980 new cases since yesterday.

More than 1,499,300 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, Lari added.

Among those undergoing treatment at present, 3,839 are being kept in the Intensive Care Units of medical centers because of critical health conditions, she said.

The spokeswoman also noted that more than 11.78 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 120 million and the death toll is close to 2.66 million.
