Iran-Iraq Ties Serve Regional Security: Zarif


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif highlighted the beneficial effects of close cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad on regional peace and stability.

In a meeting with Iraq's national security adviser Qasim Mohammad Jalal al-Araji, held in Baghdad on Tuesday, Zarif said the deep-rooted relations between Iran and Iraq in various fields are significant and benefit regional security and stability.

For his part, the Iraqi official called for the continuation of consultations and meetings between the officials of the two countries.

Zarif and Araji also talked about ways for cooperation in the fight against terrorism, about the Iraqi parliament’s bill on the expulsion of American military forces, as well as Iran’s uninterrupted support for Iraq.

Zarif has held meetings with senior Iraqi authorities in a visit to Baghdad after traveling to Qatar.
