Mehdi Ghaedi: We Will Defeat Al-Shorta
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal football team forward Mehdi Ghaedi said they will defeat Al-Shorta of Iraq in the final matchday of the AFC Champions League.
Esteghlal was held to a goalless draw against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli Tuesday night in Group C.
A goalless draw means three teams – Al-Ahli, Al-Duhail of Qatar and Esteghlal go into the final matchday with eight points to their names.
“With all due respect to Al-Shorta, we will beat them in the final day of the competition. We want to make our fans happy,” Ghaedi said.
“In the first match against Al-Ahli, we defeated them because it was our first match but we were tired in the (second) match against them since we play every three days,” he added.
“Now, we sit top of the table and are ready to book a place in the next stage. We made hard efforts to reach this stage,” Ghaedi concluded.
