Iran Reports over 19,000 New COVID-19 Cases
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 19,000 new coronavirus cases have been detected in the country over the past 24 hours, Iran’s Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The ministry’s public relations office said the total number of new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours was 19,899, of whom 3,053 patients were hospitalized.
It put the daily death toll at 385, which brings the total deaths from the disease in Iran so far to 71,351.
More than 1.47 million people in the country have so far contracted the infectious disease, the ministry said, adding that 1.93 million patients have recovered from COVID-19.
It also noted that 15.69 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
Worldwide, the number of people infected with COVID-19 has exceeded 150 million and the death toll is above 3.16 million.
