Iran’s Rouhani, Qatari Emir Underline Immediate End to Israeli Attacks on Palestinians
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and the Emir of Qatar reiterated the need for an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian nation.
In a telephone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Rouhani congratulated the Emir of Qatar and the Arab country’s nation on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Iranian president also condemned the Zionist regime’s recent acts of violence and crimes in Jerusalem al-Quds and its attacks on the Gaza Strip and said they more than ever show the necessity for unity among Muslim countries to stand up to the occupying regime’s bullying.
Muslim states should cooperate to counter the Israeli regime’s aggression and hostile acts seen in recent days and in the holy month of Ramadan, he said.
“The Zionist regime’s attacks and aggression against the people of Palestine and Gaza must stop immediately and we should not allow more oppression to take place against this people,” Rouhani said.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation should take a more active role in this regard since the OIC was established in the first place to resolve the Palestinian issue, he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani hailed the good ties between Tehran and Doha and stressed further development of the bilateral relations in various political, economic and trade fields.
The Qatari ruler, for his part, congratulated the Iranian nation and government on Eid and appreciated the Islamic Republic’s stances on Palestinian developments and its wise and prudent approach to regional and international issues.
He added that Qatar shares Iran’s view in condemnation of the attacks on Palestinians and demands an effective role from the OIC in this regard.
