Over 14,000 New Coronavirus Cases Reported in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry said more than 14,000 new coronavirus cases were detected in the country over the past 24 hours.

Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on Thursday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country reached 2,722,007 after the detection of 14,264 new cases since Wednesday noon.

She said 297 patients died of the disease in the said period, bringing the total death toll to 76,231.

According to the spokeswoman, more than 2,179,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

She added that 17.61 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and more than 1.67 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

Worldwide, more than 161 million people have been infected with COVID-19 and nearly 3.35 million people have died of the disease.
