Coronavirus in Iran: Hospital Admissions, Death Toll Dropping

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital in Iran and the daily deaths from the pandemic have declined again on Friday, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Lari said at a press conference on Friday that 1,545 of the new coronavirus cases detected in the past 24 hours have been admitted to the hospital.

She also said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 2,732,000 following the detection of 10,145 new cases since yesterday.

At least 2,196,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 76,433, saying the disease has taken the lives of 202 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,468 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more that more than 17.75 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 1,713,600 people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 161 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.34 million.
